When Good Clients Want Bad Web Design

Portfolio
These are just a small sampling of the websites that we have developed.
Click thumbnail images to enlarge the screenshot. Javascript popups must be enabled in your browser preferences.

Important Note: The screenshots below will show you the designs as they were originally intended, and may no longer reflect our original work. The client may have made changes (to photographs, fonts, or colors) that were not recommended, they may have since redesigned, or the site is no longer available.

Site: International Society of Folk Harpers & Craftsmen
Description: Provides a focus for folk harp activities worldwide.
Creative Direction: The client wanted a professional and elegant website.
Features: This site features beautiful wood tones and a modernized, updated logo. The new site has several payment forms which allow people to purchase advertising in the quarterly Folk Harp Journal.

Site: Homeopathy Resource UK
Description: Homeopathy Resource allows UK residents to obtain homeopathic treatment online.
Creative Direction: The client wanted something using warm, earthy colors that felt professional yet not formal.
Features: This site features information about homeopathy in the form of articles, case studies, and opt-in newsletter/autoresponder which tracks click-thru statistics. The photo and audio of Linda inviting them to connect welcomes the visitors and makes them feel more at ease. Interested parties can book and pay for email, telephone, or face-to-face consulations from the website. Users can also take a Homeopathy Suitability Quiz which will show customized responses based on their answers. Visitors can also purchase pre-made remedy kits through Paypal.
Testimonial: "Great job! The site is just as you suggested - soothing, highly professional and attractive and looks as if it will be a pleasant read instead of just promoting myself and a service. It is so much more professional than anything I could have envisaged. So thank you. You have really taken things up a level - it reminds me of reading a women's health magazine, which is great market assessment on your part. The whole image takes homeopathy out of the category of "some weird little fringe medicine practised by earnest people who eat lentils and hug trees" and puts it into a bigger market. What is really clever and skilful on your part is that I can now see how people visiting this site (who were perhaps just browsing) could in fact find themselves persuaded to try homeopathy on the spur of the moment!" - Linda Lloyd

It features several "Tools of Engagement", including a "Dare Check" quiz that tallies up and scores visitors' responses to see how ready they are to make changes in their lives. They are given a custom response depending on their score, and the results are emailed to the site owner. It also features a public Q&A script that asks visitors what being a hero means to them. The site owner can moderate submissions and decide whether to post, edit or delete their responses. The site also has an opt-in newsletter and autoresponder that delivers a free report and a 7-step audio coaching program to visitors who supply their name and email address so the site owner can build and maintain a list of current clients and potential prospects. There is also an Audio Acrobat greeting message, randomly rotating testimonials, a weblog with RSS feed, questionnaires for potential coaching clients to fill out, and a content management system so the client can maintain her own website.

She met all my requirements, and then some! Even since launching the site she has been there to assist and answer questions that have come up.
